Hey Lightworker, Stop Being Insecure and Get to Work! Jesus, the Buddha, & Ramana Were Imperfect Too

Sometimes people reach out to meet with me for a session, and very early into our conversation I begin to wonder, why did they reach out to meet with me? They are so advanced, open-hearted, wise, and evolved.

I should be going to them!

Eventually, it becomes obvious that despite how far they’ve come on their paths, with great gifts and skills and potential, they feel insecure and reluctant to embrace their call to service, to be lightworkers.

The general sentiment they have is:

Who am I to be a spiritual healer? Messenger? Guide? Teacher? Lightworker?

Who am I to claim I have spiritual gifts and a connection with the Divine?

Who am I to pretend as if I am like Jesus Christ or the Buddha?

Is it just my ego that wants to be a lightworker?

And with this sort of attitude, they’re stuck.

They feel the call within their heart to begin serving.

They’re afraid that they’re being arrogant or narcissistic.

They’re afraid that they’re not yet ready because they’re not perfect.

Their insecurity holds them back.

Now, I completely understand. I’ve felt all the same ways. And I still do from time to time.

Who am I to be doing this work?

Well, today I want to give you some pointers for overcoming this challenge if you happen to be facing it.

You feel the call in your heart. Maybe you’ve been directly called in a more obvious way. And you’re not yet sure if you’re worthy of stepping into the role of a lightworker.

You might be worried that you’re being an egotistical, arrogant, narcissist. I get it. I’ve wondered the same thing.

The thing is, narcissists and ego-maniacs don’t have those kinds of worries.

So if you feel this way, you’re not a narcissist. You’re likely overly sensitive and afraid to be seen, which is the opposite of what a narcissist feels.

So you don’t have to worry that coming out and owning your gifts and making yourself known is going to be seen as something narcissistic.

Another point here is that sometimes we have ideas about how we need to be perfect before doing any kind of lightwork.

This is a sneaky way that we self-sabotage and make excuses for why we’re not ready yet.

The thing is, no human being has ever been perfect. There is no such thing or standard as perfect.

When I was facing these similar challenges, I began to study the different notable figures, looking for signs of the imperfection, of humanity.

And I took note of them and used them to finally give myself the confidence to come out and do this work.

For example, I noted that Jesus got angry. He saw that people had turned the temple into a marketplace, and he became enraged. So I understood, if Jesus can get angry, then so can I from time to time. It’s okay. I don’t need to get to a point where I never get angry ever again before accepting the call to my mission as a lightworker.

I also noted that even Jesus had moments of doubt about his own spirituality. For example, Jesus walked around and talked about how he was the Son of God and performed miracles and all that.

But when he was on the cross, at his lowest point, he experienced the feeling of being abandoned by God, separate from God. He asked, “Father, why have you forsaken me?”

Jesus forgot about his connection with the Divine in that moment. So if he could forget from time to time, and still be noted as one of the greatest lightworkers ever, I too can forget from time to time.

I had periods where I was without thought, for weeks and months at a time. But then the thoughts would come back. And I wondered, am I supposed to be thoughtless all the time? Am I not yet ready to do this work?

But then I read about Sri Ramana Maharshi, one of the greatest saints the world has ever known. He rarely spoke about his inner experience, probably because people were too afraid to ask him directly out of respect.

But once, someone asked him whether he has thoughts, and he said, usually no.

Usually no. So even Ramana could have a thought from time to time. So I gave myself permission to have thoughts from time to time as well.

Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj was addicted to cigarettes. If he could have some addictions and unhealthy habits, so can I.

Then I heard a beautiful story about the Buddha.

The Buddha was teaching some of his followers, and a fly landed on his nose.

He quickly waved the fly away with his hand and continued teaching.

The fly landed on his nose again. This time, he waved his hand over his nose, very very slowly, and the fly flew away.

His followers asked him, why did you wave your hand so slowly that time?

He said, because the first time, I waved it away quickly without mindfulness. The second time, I corrected my mistake and moved my hand with total mindfulness.

So even the Buddha could have a moment when he was not perfectly mindful. So of course, I can too.

None of these people have been perfect. The evidence is out there if you’re willing to look.

My favourite practice is to simply consider that they all had use the bathroom. Just like us.

Sometimes I like to wonder, if the Buddha time travelled to this moment and we gave him a pair of rollerskates, he would probably fall on his ass.

Just because he’s the Buddha doesn’t mean he doesn’t have to go through the same learning and growth processes as every other human being.

You have more in common with the greatest lightworkers than you might initially think.

Of course, we don’t want to use any of what I’m sharing here today to spiritually bypass. We don’t want to harm others or ourselves and say, well nobody is perfect. We do our best.

There is an ascension happening on the planet. More and more people are waking up faster and faster. There is no time for lollygagging. People out there need you, your example, your validation, and your gifts. Don’t deprive them.

Just remember to work within your scope, prioritize self-care, stay humble, and trust that you are always supported.

Now get to work!

I have a free ebook and audiobook called Abundica: Principles and Practices for Manifesting Abundance which has a section on abundance for lightworkers. There’s a prayer that I channelled there for you to use if you’re lacking the means to fulfill your mission.
