The Kundalini awakening process is just like puberty. Chances are, you went through puberty smoothly and successfully without it being completely debilitating.
Your Kundalini awakening process can be looked at and approached in the same way. In fact, the same intelligence that put your through puberty is now active and awakened and putting you through spiritual awakening, which might be called, spiritual puberty. Let me explain.
I want to be sensitive to those that had some health issues and complications around puberty. I know some people do in fact have serious challenges around it. So my discussion today is based on the generalization that most people listening have gone through puberty successfully.
I also want to acknowledge that Kundalini awakening is challenging on many levels for many. I get it. It’s not easy. It can cause health issues, emotional issues, relationship issues, confusion, energetic instability, and all sorts of difficult things. I’ve been through my own challenges with it. But today I want to share a bit of an empowering message to help you to snap out of any feeling of victimhood or disempowerment.
So if you feel like I’m not appreciating the difficulty of the Kundalini journey, please check out the hours and hours of content I have on the topic, offering practical solutions to some of the challenges, in other parts of this series.
So with that said, when you went through puberty, you went through it with innocence and a default state of surrender as a child.
You most likely did not overthink it at all, whether you knew what was happening or not. You probably did not feel the need to read a hundred books on the topic, understand anything about your pituitary gland and your hormonal levels, or feel that you needed to do anything to facilitate your growth process.
You had the wisdom of a child to go through puberty without tripping. You can tap into that innate wisdom that you’ve already demonstrated that you have, and go through Kundalini in the same way.
It’s only when we become adults that we feel this extreme need to control and fear of losing control. So we want to understand every little detail about Kundalini. We want to know what this or that experience meant, we want to know where and why our Kundalini is blocked, what breathing exercises we should do, and so on. We have this tight grip on the steering wheel and we think that we need to do something about our Kundalini awakening.
And this is where most of the issues that arise lie. We don’t need to do anything besides surrender, listen to our system, and relax. Really. That’s what you did as a child going through puberty.
When your body needed more rest, you slept more. You started to serve yourself more food. You easily let go any attachment to playing with toys and your interests shifted to romance, or sports, or creative expression.
Your parents didn’t think anything was wrong with you if you suddenly gained weight or weren't acting like yourself. They knew you were going through puberty and had no issues. Imagine if they took you to the doctor at 12 years old and said, doc, something is wrong, my kid is sleeping and eating a lot. The doctor would say ya, that’s puberty, things will balance out in time, just let the kid go through it.
This is the attitude you must take with your Kundalini process. Things will balance out in time. Just let yourself go through it.
This is the same intelligence that governs all of the activities of your system already. Shakti, spiritual power, has animated everything in your body, in the entire world, already, even prior to Kundalini awakening. It digests your food and grows your hair. You probably don’t know anything about how those processes work, but it gets done. Same with puberty. You didn’t know anything about it but you nailed it because you weren’t in your own way.
You have the intuition and ability to navigate all this yourself. You don’t need someone else to tell you what to do per se. You just need to acknowledge and trust in your instincts and surrender control.
You did it before and you can do it again.
