Kundalini Shakti awakening process can be challenging, confusing, and extremely rewarding. In this episode, I share some tips for navigating the process smoothly. We discuss the importance of finding silence and stillness, having a healthy relationship with the body, being hopeful, and more.
1. Educate Yourself
- There’s tons of material from past present, east and west, discussing this process
- You don’t have to become an expert, but at the very least, become aware that this is a real, known, well-documented phenomenon
- This will help you to feel validated, know you’re not alone, and of course, give you some useful info for getting through this
2. Adapt
- Human beings are the most adaptable species
- Kundalini awakening brings about significant change
- You must adapt
- You must be willing to make lifestyle changes to support your process
- You cannot continue bad habits and patterns and expecting this process to go smoothly
- If a key member of your family passes away, or you lose a job, or your house burns down, you automatically figure out how to adapt
- Kundalini is similar in the sense that you must adapt
- You cannot pretend it’s not happening to you
3. Develop a Relationship with the Body
- Kundalini awakening means your body is awakening
- Spirituality is not just about the mind or about philosophy. Your nervous system shifts through this
- This is a process that takes place on every level, not just spiritual
- It involves the entire body, head to toe
- If you have a healthy relationship with your body, your Kundalini process can unfold in a healthy way
- Eat intuitively
- Avoid substance abuse. Become aware of how even mild substances like caffeine affect you
- Find safety in your body by bringing awareness into the parts of it that feel unsafe
- Move as often as you can, to support the movement of energy, mental health, physical health, and staying grounded
4. Honor Silence
- In some traditional contexts, like monasteries, they take vows of silence, to facilitate the spiritual awakening process
- You don’t need to take a vow of silence, but you can recognize the benefits of keeping quiet at times
- Think 20x before talking openly about your Kundalini awakening process to people
- Only speak about it sparingly, with great reverence and respect, to those you trust, like a spiritual guide, therapist, or open-minded open-hearted loved one
- Understand that many cannot and will not be able to validate or support you
- This is a very rare process, though more people are experiencing it
- Honor silence and use it as a way to avoid coming across as arrogant and speaking as if you’re better than others
- Honor silence and use it as a challenge to embody and live your transformation out through your actions and energy, as opposed to solely just your words
5. Cultivate Stillness
- Traditionally, seated, silent meditation is commonly used as the main practice for spiritual development
- You don’t need to commit to hours and hours of seated meditation like a monk
- But you can cultivate stillness and inner spaciousness to allow this process to unfold without interfering in it
- This may mean lying down and allowing the energy to move through you
- This may mean walking slowly and mindfully during a walking meditation
- It may mean spending time in nature, tuning into the innate stillness all around
- Find the part of you that is still, despite all the movement of life
- It is in this place of stillness that we find non-resistance, surrender, and acceptance, key values needed for this process to unfold smoothly
6. You Must Feel in Order to Heal
- The Kundalini force will bring up things from your past that has been stored in your muscles, chakras, psyche, nervous system, and memory
- Whatever is brought up is coming forth to be released and purged, burned up, thrown out
- Things will arise and you will feel them very intensely
- Understand that this is not meant to harm you, it is meant to heal you
- The things you’ve been carrying have been influencing your life in subtle, unconscious ways this whole time
- Let them come forth into your conscious awareness, to be seen and felt fully, and then released
- Don’t fight, just observe
- It is like throwing up poison
- Vomiting is uncomfortable for a short while, but being poisoned is worse in the long run
7. Find Hope and Know that You Are Not a Victim
- Look to the stories of those that have gone through this process, there are many
- Use their stories to inspire some glimmer of hope during the times when you are deep in the thick of the purification process
- Know that this is an evolutionary growth process
- It is a gift of transformation and healing
- Sometimes we are given gifts that we did not ask for, I understand
- But you can’t return this gift, turn it off, or turn back
- So you must find courage to move forward with hope and trust
- You are not a victim, keep going
